A HIGH ENERGY FUNDRAISING INITIATIVE THAT GETS PEOPLE SPINNING FOR AN USHER1F CURE

On October 1, 2016 ZING had the distinct honor and privlege to be chosen by the local liaison of the USHER1 COLLABORATIVE to be one of the many indoor cycling studios around the country to host a special fundraising ride to work towards finding a cure for Usher1F.

SIGHT. SOUND. CYCLE welcomed beginners as well as experienced spinners to join in on the fun and to unite for a great cause. 

All bike reservation proceeds went to the Usher1F Collaborative to help fund Usher 1F research initiatives at University of Iowa & University of Oregon.

What Is Usher1F Collaborative?

Usher1F Collaborative is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation whose mission is to fund medical research to find an effective treatment to save or restore the vision of those with Usher Syndrome type 1F.

Meet Zachary Root, an adorable, funny, happy energetic 4 year old little boy. 
Zachary was born profoundly deaf which was a huge shock to the Root family. Through modern technology, cochlear implants gave him the gift of sound, allowing his speech and language development to thrive.

As he got older, Zachary’s parents noticed there was still a difference between him and his peers. After months of questioning and research, it was finally concluded that Zachary has Usher Syndrome type 1F. As if overcoming deafness was not a big enough obstacle for a little boy, the cruel reality is that Zachary will gradually lose his vision.
